Jayadeva has written this wonderful poem in Sanskrit. The beautiful verse recounts the story of Radha, Krishna's consort, and their love affair. While Krishna leaves his village frequently to travel and work for his foster father, Radha's husband is always tied to his home. He becomes increasingly jealous that Radha's love will stray because she has no companionship or affection to occupy her time. This poem tells the story of Krishna's attempt to provide respite by sending intimate friends for Radha's companionship and company. When he discovers what has happened, however, Radha's husband feels so much pain that he immediately leaves home in search of his wife. Krishna discovers him wandering the forest, confused and distraught. As he explains to his grandfather while lamenting that he has lost both his wife and his mind, Krishna creates the following poem in bewilderment over what has happened.
